Balloon Platoon Award Winner
Platoon coordinator Hal Strunk reports he received a beautiful plaque with a picture of the Platoon as they appeared in the BigBay, Holiday Bowl parade. The plaque reads “Drill Team Award”. The accompanying letter read, “your entry was chosen for the Drill Team Award for the 2010 ….parade”. Further, it says “Thank you again for your participation and we look forward to your participation in the future”. Hal added, “because it matters a whole, big lot to me, everyone is in step. How about that !!”
When asked about the award, Hal says “Quite frankly, I didn’t feel that we would be asked back as we looked a bit small compared to all the other marching groups. Bands numbered in the Hundreds. One was from PA.” Despite their rotund appearance, apparently size does not matter!
