At Centerpointe

Discovering Your SHAPE

We are all called to a relationship with Jesus and to living as servants of Christ for the benefit of others to the glory of God.  Each of us are called to a place of service in Christ’s body, the church community.  God has equipped us with gifts to be used for the benefit of others and for the demonstration of his kingdom.  We experience tremendous joy when we make a difference in the lives of others by living out our calling to Christ and to serving in his church.

Our desire is for each member of the body of Christ at Centerpointe Presbyterian Church to discover his/her spiritual gifts by evaluating them in the context of his/her heart, abilities, personality and experiences.  Once we know how God has specifically created us, we are better able to discover our call to ministry in the church and most likely to experience the joy of ministry and making a difference in the lives of others.

Please contact us about discovering your SHAPE.

Serve Building and Grounds

God has blessed us with wonderful facilities, and we need to be good stewards of what He has provided. There are projects, both big and small, around the campus for which we could use your help. It is our hope to use volunteer labor, rather than having to pay for outside labor. Please contact Steve Zimmerman or Mike Lafferty for more information or to lead a project.

1. Landscape Coordinator: Oversee quality control and issues with Church landscaping and the landscape contractor including water use, and annual contract renewal in conjunction with the Church Administrator. Ideally you would recruit volunteers to do projects outside the scope of the maintenance agreement for which the Church is charged extra.

2. Baptistry Coordinator: Oversee the maintenance of the Baptistry, including proper chemical balance and cleaning, water level and fountain spray. We currently have a pool service maintaining the Baptistry (chemicals and periodic cleaning), but if you could handle these aspects you would save the Church money. Need to coordinate with the Director of Worship and the Sunday Set up Crew for immersion Baptisms.

3. Fire Alarm Coordinator: Oversee and coordinate quarterly inspections of the Church’s fire alarm and fire suppression systems. Accompany technician to provide access to needed areas. Includes contract renewal in conjunction with the Church Administrator.

4. Preschool Playground Maintenance Coordinator. Oversee the repair and maintenance of the Preschool playground, including recruiting volunteers if necessary to repair, and/or replace bark, sand, painting of fixtures, etc.

5. Court Yard Coordinator. Make sure the outdoor seating (tables, chairs and benches) and umbrellas are clean, maintained and in good working order. And that the courtyard “shows well” on Sunday mornings and for special events.

6. General Handyman Repair Coordinator. Recruit and coordinate a group of volunteers to handle general repair items around the Church, including, but not limited to light bulb replacement, faucet and minor plumbing repairs, basic electrical repairs, broken cabinet hinges, etc.

7. HVAC Coordinator. Oversee the Church’s HVAC system including coordination of quarterly preventative maintenance (being done by HVAC contractor), and conduct regular inspections of thermostats for correct programming to ensure efficient and effective use of HVAC system.

If you are aware of other projects, please let Steve Zimmerman or Mike Lafferty know.

Centerpointe Care Connections

Centerpointe Care ministries train lay persons to come alongside those in need. They learn to offer a non-judgmental ear, a compassionate shoulder and much heartfelt prayer. The breadth of ministries includes formally ordained Deacons, intensively trained Stephen Ministers, and specially called Care ministers. Their cycle on service can range from arranging for meals, errands, or transportation to investing an hour over a cup of coffee to committing to meet for an hour a week for up to a year.

Centerpointe Care Ministers are called by God to extend Christian care for several months to those who are in the midst of trial and stress. Ministers are specially trained to provide caring, confidential, and non-judgmental listening and support. Their role of care giver allows them to accompany and support their care receiver through difficult times.

Please contact the church office for more information or to sign up.

Stephen Ministry

Someone needs your help right now.

The Stephen Ministry is a confidential, lay-caring ministry grounded in Jesus’ command to love one another. Those who are hurting receive love and support through one-to-one caring relationships. The ministry is named after Stephen, one of the first deacons in the early Christian church, commissioned by the apostles to care for the needs of people in the Christian community.

Everyone goes through difficult times. Having someone to care, to listen, and to share God’s love can help you get through the confusion, stress, or loneliness that you may be experiencing. Please contact the church office to learn more about having a Stephen Minister share your burden. “Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2

Stephen Ministry makes it on PBS. Find out more.
