During the month of September, Session:
-Heard an inspirational Centerpointe Christian Preschool update from Preschool Director Didi Huckaby. Didi shared stories illustrating the growing sense of community amongst the staff and families who describe it as a place of love where teachers go above and beyond for the students, families, and each other. The preschool enrollment has been excellent, and many classes have a waiting list.
-Learned of exciting new updates to our website including access to sermon podcasts, the start of Pastor Mike’s blog in the near future, and the creation of a detailed calendar of events.
-Received training on how to make Communications and Facilities Requests for all events. Forms are available in the office should you need to schedule a room or create publicity for an upcoming church event. Communication Request forms can be turned in at the church office or sent to communications@centerpointeweb.org and Facilities Request forms can be turned in at the office or sent to chris.lindstrom@centerpointeweb.org. These forms will soon be available on the church web site.
-Reviewed the role of Church Administrator, Steve Zimmerman, who oversees the following areas on a half-time basis: Finance, Buildings and Grounds, Operations, Administration, and Personnel. Many of these responsibilities have been previously handled by Pastor Mike. The Church Administrator position frees our Senior Pastor to focus on ministry and the fresh vision God has laid out for Centerpointe.
Session heard many praises for our Centerpointe Christian Preschool program. The preschool is fully enrolled for the fall and is the only preschool in the Tri-Valley with a waiting list! We are excited to be expanding this ministry with the addition of an After-School Care program for early elementary students in grades K-3. Children will be picked up from school in two new newly purchased vans on a Monday through Friday schedule.
Session approved the July financial report (ahead of budget in Ministry Fund, below budget in our Capital Fund). During the first week of September, the Elders mailed a letter regarding giving.
Approved an agreement with Ponderosa Homes to allow The Gardens at Ironwood residents the use of 16 parking spaces in exchange for the use of the Ironwood Community Center for our Sunday Adult Education programs.
The church joyfully welcomed Jenni Festa to our Centerpointe family. Jenni is serving part-time as our Middle School Director and part-time as a teacher in the After-School Care program.
Candidates for the high school director position continue to be pursued.
During the month of July, Session:
- Reviewed and refined our Vision Statement for Centerpointe which will be presented on September 12th.
- Heard a financial update from Treasurer Larry Robinson. Thanks to the continued generosity and support from our congregation, our ministry fund is exceeding the year-to-date budget. Giving to our capital fund is below the pledged budget. In order to continue our interest payments, we ask those who are able to bring their pledges up to date or pay ahead to do so soon.
- Learned that guest preachers will be delivering the Sunday message during the month of August while Pastor Mike is on vacation.
- Approved the purchase of two 10 passenger vans to be used for the afterschool kindergarten program which the preschool will begin in the fall. This loan from the ministry fund will be reimbursed in 2 to 3 months and will allow us to assist this exciting new ministry for our community.
- Received word of another opportunity to reach out to our community. Stroller Strides, a fitness program for moms with young children, has been approved to use our grass and courtyard areas starting at the end of October.
