Katie Walda

katiewalda2I’ve been playing organ since I was 13, and have played piano since age 3. I’ve been involved in church music for over 30 years, playing mainly for Lutheran and Presbyterian congregations. As a concert organist, I’ve been blessed to have been given the opportunity to play all over the world, including St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, and the ThomasKirche in Leipzig. I’m also a professional accompanist, playing for choral groups, orchestras, and soloists, both vocal and instrumental. I was raised in the St. Louis area, but have been in California for 30 years. I’ve lived in the Tri-Valley area for the past 15 years. God has blessed my life richly with my son, and my extended family and friends.

Music in Worship is a reflection of God’s glory in the hearts, minds and voices of human beings. It’s a means to worship. I love reading the Psalms. Psalm 66:2 says to “Sing the glory of His name; give to Him glorious Praise!” When someone tells me that a Prelude, or a hymn, or a particular Choir Anthem touched their heart, that inspires me. My gift comes from God, and to be able to share that on a regular basis is an amazing journey!

I love going to live Theater performances, especially in San Francisco. I’m an avid crossword puzzle solver. But my favorite thing to do is perform. It’s not just work for me; it’s great fun!

Katie’s Ministry Background

As Choir Director and Organist, it’s my role to help lead the congregation in their Worship of Christ through music. It’s exciting to hear the many voices raised in song, to look out and see the joy that music brings to everyone. The Choir at Centerpointe makes this so easy. They have a genuine love of Christ, and care about each other and the church. It makes my job easy.
